I. Ancient Greece (tier-X) – The foundation of Western civilization as we know it today. While the Roman Empire would surpass them in terms of military might and territorial expansion, they still maintain a special place in our hearts for their contributions to intellectual thought and philosophy which led to so much more than just democracy or science without borders. In an age before electricity, paper, telephones or even the written word itself became commonplace; these people set us on the path towards modern society with their advancements in mathematics, medicine–hell! They were the ones who invented theater!–and architecture that can still be visited today centuries later! With all this said, they are still one of the most difficult civilizations to play due to their reliance on early aggression and a lack of cavalry units.

With all this said, it’s time to take a look at the most influential civilization in history.

The Shang Dynasty is an often overlooked ancient power that once ruled over much of what we now know as China between 1766 BC and 11202 BC. While they were ultimately overthrown by their former subjects, who went on to found the Zhou dynasty under King Wu of Chu; many scholars agree that without this first ever empire, there never would have been any other great empires–Such as Rome or America!–anywhere else in world history. You might be asking how such a small country could get so far? Well for starters, unlike some of the more barbaric peoples around them like the Xia dynasty from which they conquered or even those wild barbarians across the sea, the Shang Dynasty had a system of writing. This allowed them to keep records and communicate much more efficiently than their neighbouring civilizations.

As for their military might, they were said to have been so good with bronze weaponry that even when faced against enemies who wielded better steel weapons–their high accuracy still made up for this disadvantage! It is said too that one time during war someone was able to sneak into the city in disguise as an enemy soldier–a feat which no other civilization has ever managed before or since!–and then surrendered himself without any violence whatsoever once inside..In short: these guys didn’t mess around!

Okay okay but what about outside of battle? Well there are many ways we can measure how great ancient empires were–they were the first to have a complicated banking system, they had an incredibly high-tech sanitation system for their time (toilets!), and one of them even invented writing!
