I remember the first time I heard this song and how much it changed my outlook on life. This is a song that has been around for decades, but still holds true in today’s society.

It might just be about love in its simplest form, but there are many other interpretations of what “old smokey” could represent. The lyrics speak to me personally and I think they will resonate with you too!

My interpretation is that old Smokey represents distractions such as drugs or television which can take us away from our loved ones and make us forget how much they mean to us. It’s important not to let those distractions get in the way of things we care about most because when we look back on life-those moments are precious few by comparison.* I feel like this song has a lot of meaning behind it now after living for a few years and experiencing how much time can pass us by.

*It’s an important reminder to not take anything for granted and appreciate the people in our lives because they are likely there for a reason!

He was trying to hold on a-to the everlovin’ end; I’m sorry now he’s gone and left me behind.

That how it goes for you when your man is jus too tired: You gotta keep on movin’, keep on tryin’.*

The first time this came to me was when I had to write a song for an old lady who lived on top of Old Smokey, which is the tallest peak in Tennessee.

When she heard this song, it made her cry because it reminded her that life goes by too fast and you never know how long your time has been given to love someone else.

We want our loved ones and everyone around us to cherish every day they have with us as we cherish them!

This song first came to me when I had to write a song for an old lady who lived way up high in Tennessee. When she heard this song, it made her cry because it reminded her that life goes by too fast and you never know how long your time has been given to love someone else. We want our loved ones and everyone around us to cherish every day they have with us as we cherish them! *I’m sorry that life can be so tough sometimes, but we’ve got to keep moving forward no matter what the circumstances are. And hopefully one of these days things will change! It’s not easy going through life so we all need to help each other and be there for one another.

*This song reminds me of those people who are still going through tough times, but find reasons to keep on trying. I hope that this blog post will give you some reassurance that things will get better because they can’t stay the same forever!

On top of old Smokey where do you dwell?I live in a log cabin built by my daddy with his bare hands down in Tennessee. It’s just little ol’ me livin’ here and it makes me kinder blue; But whenever I feel lonesome or start thinkin’ too much,I climb up onto Old Smokey an look out over the view.An I don’t feel so lonesome an I quit thinkin’ about things.I just watch the cars roll by and listen to Old Smokey whisper,And it seems like he’s telling me “sonny-you ain’t never alone.”

This song reminds me of those people who are still going through tough times, but find reasons to keep on trying.

It also has a very calming effect for myself when I’m feeling down or troubled. It makes me realize that no matter what happens in life there is always something worth living for; even if you have nobody else near you right now!
